Donny and Thu | Trash The Dress

Donny and Thu are really good friends of ours. I’ve actually known Donny my entire life. We’ve been like brothers for the longest time and were even each others best men at our weddings so Chau and I were very excited when they asked us to trash Thu’s dress. Thu likes field shots so we decided to head over to Half Moon Bay for some field shots by the beach and maybe try to sneak in an ocean sunset shot or two. I especially was excited to shoot in some mustard fields. This was the main thing I was keeping an eye out for when we were driving around scouting for areas. This place we found (with mustard fields) somewhere off Highway 1 near Half Moon Bay. It was guarded by a low gate that was easy for us to get over. It had everything we were looking for. It was secluded, had rolling grass and mustard fields, and had old rusted equipment and tires. I liked everything about this spot except for one thing. It was absolutely INFESTED with ticks! We found ticks on our clothes throughout the entire shoot but didn’t think much of it at the time. We didn’t realize how bad it was until we got back to our car and found ticks all over ourselves! They especially loved me as I picked 30+ of those buggers off my clothes and body. I’d still come back to this place but next time armed with repellent.

As always my lovely wife Chau came along to assist. This time my sister also came along to help assist and help with directing poses. It turned out great and I hope to have this same team on more of our shoots in the future.

I loved these old rusted bars but had no idea what they actually were!

I love mustard flowers!

I think the ticks found me extra delicious when I was shooting in this position.
